  9. Hello, 
  10.     This is the information registration file on the program 
  11.     CJPOS.  CJPOS was created by Christopher J. Ryba to provide 
  12.     a user friendly point-of-sale program for my friend 
  13.     Christopher Kilcoyne ; owner of Brookpark Certified Automotive 
  14.     Service in Parma, Ohio. He wanted a program to print receipts 
  15.     and save estimates at his shop. What evolved from simple 
  16.     beginnings in August of 1992 is rather complete package for any 
  17.     small business who can dedicate a CGA or VGA IBM compatible computer 
  18.     to point of sale operation.  Any printer that can do EPSON 
  19.     emulation will work to print receipts (most printers do).

  23. ** OPERATION ***
  24.  
  25.     In the Receipt Menu is included a screen saver to prevent monitor 
  26.     burnout.  The F1 to F12 keys are struck to bring up different 
  27.     departments. For BCAS of Parma these departments are Labor 
  28.     (F1 is always Labor), F2 is Exhaust, F3 is Emmisions, F4 is Brakes, 
  29.     and so on to F12 for Miscellaneous. After pressing one of these F keys 
  30.     a window pops up with various part discriptions.  For example, at BCAS 
  31.     pressing F2 brings up the Exhaust Department with parts such as 
  32.     mufflers, pipes, hangers, clamps, etc.  Using the cursor keys moves 
  33.     a selection box to a part description.  Say we chose Mufflers, now
  34.     striking the Enter key replaces the first window with a second window 
  35.     listing the part numbers under that part description. For our example,
  36.     we choose #1811G of Mufflers by using the cursor keys again to move
  37.     the selection box. This exact part number for Mufflers has the price to 
  38.     go with it. Finally the quantity is prompted at the bottom of the 
  39.     window;    the default value is 1.

  41.     For the Labor department( F1 ), canned descriptions of labor are 
  42.     loaded in with their hour quantity.  These descriptions can be added 
  43.     to. The appropiate labor rate is then selected.
  44.  
  45.     The beauty of CJPOS is that it is a "build on the fly" program in 
  46.     which a user can add part, part number, & labor descriptions as 
  47.     they're needed.  Moving the cursor box to any line with "****" will 
  48.     allow putting a new item into the appropiate window. A total of 35,200 
  49.     unique part numbers can be loaded into the program in this manner for 
  50.     departments F2 thru F12. A total of 39 "canned" labor descriptions can 
  51.     loaded into the Labor department (F1).

  53.     When a receipt is ready, it can be saved as an estimate, or finalized 
  54.     as sold to Cash, Check, Visa/MC, Discover, American Express, or 
  55.     Accounts Receivable. Also Line items can be deleted or changed if an 
  56.     incorrect entry occured. Customer names & information are prompted 
  57.     before the end of a sale.  This information can retrieved if a 
  58.     sale re-occurs to the same customer at a later date by providing 1 to 3 
  59.     letters of the last name.

  61.     Back to the main menu, several other choices are presented.  Daily sales 
  62.     can be viewed and expenses entered.  A daily printout sheet of these 
  63.     items is provided.  Also the products sold for the day and any variable 
  64.     period can be tallied, viewed, printed, or output to a Lotus type ASCII 
  65.     delimited text file for a spreedsheet program.
  66.     Inventory of part numbers is tracked and quantities altered in the 
  67.     Inventory subprogram.  A printout of loaded part numbers can done for 
  68.     every department; a cost sum of positive inventory counts is included.
  69.     The Accounting subprogram allows for adjustment to any sales figures.  
  70.     The program saves receipts in an ASCII text format that can be viewed 
  71.     like this file.

  74.     Those wonderful UPC barcodes can now be read by CJPOS using a wedge type 
  75.     reader. If you want a pen type reader one is availble from Cuyahoga 
  76.     Computing for $ 299.

  81.     To Install the program:
  82.  
  83.             1.) Unzip onto a floppy drive the CJPOS12.ZIP 
  84.                 file which contains a SETUP.EXE program 
  85.                 to create a blank part number and other 
  86.                 files and directories used by the program. 
  87.             2.) Run SETUP from the floppy 
  88.                 During setup department sizes are set as
  89.                 well as the prompts for customer info. At 
  90.                 BCAS the additional info prompts are Make &
  91.                 Model, Engine, Mileage, & VIN Code.
  92.                 Putting a "/" before the prompt during setup
  93.                 will prevent that field from being printed
  94.                 on receipts.

  96.             3.) Type CJPOS to start

  98. Included are example ITEMS.LST , LABOR.LST, LEGALEST.TXT ,  LEGALRCP.TXT , 
  99. WARRANTY.TXT, and SAVER.TXT files used at BCAS. Copying these files into your
  100.  CJPOS directory will (Save your own first) will provide an examples.

  107.     The program needs a minimum of 1 Meg hard disk space to run.  
  108.     Naturally as more receipts are written, the program could outgrow 
  109.     1 Meg in size ( I hope your business is selling something ! ).

  252.           to by ITEMS.LST, i.e., every line of ITEMS.LST has one hundred
  253.           records in PN.NUM.

  255. SALEMAN.DAT   - The names of your salespeople. Up to 15 characters each.
